ok ...just a quick info and nothing more.
I want to rewrite eScape with M$ C# express and since i will not use any code from the old tool (done with sharpdeveloper), i can implement new features .. to be seriously: it depends on if i CAN code it. It should be a small but handy tool and nothing more, that's why i will trash some features from the old tool (0.3x): Preview (does anyone use it?), Viewfile editing(too complicate to understand), lsmerge(better be done in lightscape), lsrender and lsrayf support (useless) and also ls2vrml(also better done in lightscape) The usability will also be different: a small window, which holds the most important settings and with a klick you can open a panel with more settings. Multicore cpu support for raytracing is a must. lsrad will not benefit; It is a single threaded task ..sorry! Well ..i would be happy if you can give me suggestions about the workflow.. and i really mean how this tool can be improoved for a neat workflow/usability. I think we all know, that it will make not sense to create workarounds for problems which only AD can solve

The thing you told abouth beeing discard, I agree 100%. They are realy useless. For a wish, would it be possible to have a command inside LS, like send .ls/.lp file directly to eScape and start raytracing. Like an fast multithreaded rendering plugin for LS. Also maybe network rendering support, instead of LSnet

There used to be a plugin for sending LS solution files to Max. It probably still works. But I don't use Max, so I would LOVE to see an exporter for a lit .ls file into...what?...something universal so the vertex-shaded mesh could survive. possible?

ok, i now have something like a working gui which "only" have to be filled with code....
I'm also thinking about a usefull feature for processing: I want to offer changes to the LP files for sun color, sky color and time, since you may want to use cores which can't be used from lsrad for processing various Solutions. I can use lsmerge for this. It takes your LP file and merges a generated LP file with changed values over it, so it only replaces the changed values. @del82 I don't think there is a way to send a scene directly from lightscape to escape. @Ernest Burden You can try to export to VRML. This should give you waht you want.. but you may have to use ..ehmmm the ls2vrml ...should i add it to the agenda of eScape? @okmijun 1. you will define threads and each thread will render one slice ..so you could use trillons of cores 2. http://www.cgtechniques.com/goodies/ls_la_exporter.php 3. yep!
