Hi!
I'm having a problem exporting and importing files from autocad to 3ds max. The file imports fine, but the spline that looked nice and smooth in autocad turns out jagged in 3ds max. Also, some of the points seem to be out of place compared to autocad. I turn on smooth when importing, but that doesn't help anything. What am I doing wrong? |

Just tried it, but the line is the same... Should I change some of the settings in the import dialog? Could it be that the dwg file is a spline or polyline? Or should I convert it to something else in Autocad?

In the Geometry part of the import options you can change the 'curve steps' to a higher value which will give your curve more facets, but there is no way to import a polyline with curved parts and keep the true curve as far as I know.

Move the drawing to 0,0,0 coordinates before exporting. It makes it more precise.

Thank you so much!
That actually helped! Weird thing that it made such a big difference moving the polyline! Been messing around for 9 hours straight now, so I was about to give up... Thanks again! |

Well I have this problem and I have not idea what can I do. The polylines in AutoCAD are fine, but in Max they are not. I have read here that there is not much to do. That is true?

That looks a LOT like what happens with the "Import AutoCAD drawing command." (Instead of "LEGACY" AutoCAD mentioned above).
Are you working near 0,0, and using the "legacy" import and still getting that problem? |
