As a FILE LINK MANAGER heavy user, the one item that needs to be consistant while modeling in CAD is keeping all items on one layer if you know what material you will be applying. It would be great to FILE LINK solids from AutoCAD knowing you can individually map material on individual solids even though they are on the same layer.
This would be awesome! |

You can add an edit ploy modifier to it and then have different materials on one layer. I don't know if that is eaiser than just going back in cad and changing the layer but that is one way to do it.

the edit poly modifier is one of the things you can't do without in 3d studio
