SHORT TITLE FOR SUGGESTION/BUG/ENHANCEMENT REQUEST ---------------------------------------------------------------- Simplified GUI for Beginners --------------------------------------------------------------- DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF YOUR REQUEST --------------------------------------------------------------- Having been self taught in 3DS Max for 10 years now, I have often thought there should have been an option to select a very simplified interface. An example of the application of this is A check box for [x] Realistic global lighting and shadows. Below it would be an advanced button to open a dialog with all the options. This wasn't feasible before as one needed to tweek the settings to achieve realism, but now Mental Ray and V-ray Max could do this with presets very nicely. --------------------------------------------------------------- WHY THIS REQUEST IS IMPORTANT TO YOU --------------------------------------------------------------- There are thousands of settings one has to learn and remember. I have lately been involved in teaching new users and it has stressed the need for this. I believe that we could list 1/10 of the advanced settings into presets. I have template files I have created for Arch Viz that I only change about 20 different settings. I believe that with 15 years of feature upgrades the GUI could now use some simplification. At least as an option for beginners and advanced users. Thanks Shaun Last edited by creasia; November 20th, 2007 at 10:20 AM. |
