SHORT TITLE FOR SUGGESTION/BUG/ENHANCEMENT REQUEST ---------------------------------------------------------------- Instanced Xref scenes --------------------------------------------------------------- DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF YOUR REQUEST --------------------------------------------------------------- Add the possibility to instance an Xreffed scene. It should be possible to select an xref scene directly in the viewport and instance them. In the Xref scene manager this would be reflected as a treeview. One child is added under the main Xref for every instance. --------------------------------------------------------------- WHY THIS REQUEST IS IMPORTANT TO YOU --------------------------------------------------------------- When filling up an area with the same (detailed) houses it's very handy to use Xref scenes. Any changes to the mother-house are reflected directly in every xref. Now we have to link every house as a single Xref (although it's the same file). Being able to instance an Xref scene in the viewport would speed things up a lot. A second benefit would be that the scene is loaded in memory only once (it's an instance) instead of once for every single xref. The power of Xref scenes would grow inmensely. |

Yeah, good idea, its like a cross between the functionality of xref objects, but in the scene xref.
I currently do this using object xrefs, but it means you need to attach as many poly objects as possible together in the object to be xreffed to keep it simple. You can the create slices and the like for sections etc, from the xref objects. |

I've tried to use Xref objects a few times. But when i instanced the xref-objects in the scene and went back and changed stuff in the original xref-file. Those changes only happen in the first instance of the xref in the mother-scene. The other xrefs seem to be unaffected. So keeping it simple seems to be a good in-between solution.
