Default 3ds max 2008 error on start (solution found)

Hi, folks!
We just got our 10 new licenses here and something really weird is happening. We install everything just fine, then when I start the soft it gives me an error (code 1114), something about the Scene Explorer or something (the dialog box is really tiny compared to what's written). Click ok and it continues to load, but then it gives me a bunch of different script errors, everytime I load it a different error appears. And everytime I click on a menu, before it drops, I get an error (once I click ok, the menu works just fine).
The weirdest part is that some of the machines are running Max without a problem. I reinstalled it like 5 times and always the same. Any thoughts ?

Can you give us some more details please? Such as the hardware configuration you have on each PC, the operating system, software, etc. Were you using a previous version of Max on these computers before? Are you running Max 2008 now? Is it an upgrade? Were you running antivirus software during the installation that may have prevented it from making registry changes?

Sounds like a serious problem so the more details you provide, the easier it will be for us to figure it out.

Details!

Ok, let's see what I have here... they're all the same:

Pentium D 2.66GHz
1 GB RAM
Windows XP SP2
No antivirus
All PCs have 3ds max 8 installed and we are upgrading the licenses to 2008.

One thing we had to do is installing DirectX9 (some machines did not have it), but no biggie.
I googled the error code and the only thing I could find was the description of it (the software is missing a dynamic DLL) and a great advice (re-install the DLL). If only a knew which DLL is missing... I can only assume it has something to do with Windows Update, being this missing DLL a system file.
What do you think?

I am running the 2008 trial and get 6 error messages on startup and some of the dropdowns temporarily fial. I also get the max-script window popping up now and then to say hello for no reason. I am on xp64 and I assumed this combined with the fact its a trial may be messing things up, but your errors sound similar.
Functions fine though, but if I got these errors when I pay for it, id be a bit perturbed to say the least.

Yep. That's me, right now....
And yes, the same errors as yours. Couldn't find anything on the net about it yet.

Heh, thats why Ive still got my 2008 update in the mail. Ill wait for the fixes and launch it up then.

The most stable 3dstudio was 3ds 4 - in dos (as i recall Kinetix owned it at that time). Since then ive seen hangs ups errors and incredible instability at times. Dont know weather its the Autodesk team thats responsible for this or Microsoft. 3dsmax has definetly a poor compatibility issue with Windows.

Well, we can't expect yearly releases to be rock solid, I guess...
Anyway, still have the problem here... and still guessing it has something to do with Windows Updates (made in some machines, not made in others)...

Its definetly an issue with Windows or the likes.
Probably would be headin for direct x. What version have u got installed? DX 9.0 c ?

Is service pack 2 installed on all of the cpus?

Just found this:

"Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 1114 (Oracle in instantclient_10_2)
I've read that installing dynamic libraries MFC71.DLL, Mfc71enu.dll and msvcr71.dll might solve the problem."

You could give it a shot i suppose.
