Default loosing a file

sometimes while working on a file it hangs but the prob is when next time i want to open the file .. this error happens "this file can not be opened" n oooops nothing to show ...does it mean i really loose that file ? ( especially when no backup file available) how to recover? have u ever face the same prob? y this happens ? n what should i do ?

hey m8 i hope is not too l8, max saves a .bak file of the project u have open and if it crashes and the original file is corrupted u should look for that file but i think its gone after you open another project. Make sure to llok on the backup folder not for .max extension but .bak ones. Thats the only thing i can think of, for your future projects make sure to use 3 outobackup file to make sure u have at least some backup if it happens again.

sometimes file merge into a new file works.

yeessss the problem with autobaks is that they're temporary ... i got it when i opened a bak file working on it n press save key but next time i tried to open it haahaaa nothing ......
i didn't know ab merging i'll try it
