Default 3ds max 2008 Backburner problem

We have a small renderfarm of 5 computers all macs (running bootcamp) - 3 computers are strickly rendernodes and 2 computers are used to do work on and then used as a render node after hours. - we just installed 3ds max 2008 and noticed a weird problem..

The odd problem is with 2 of the computers. When the server.exe is on they both generate frames, but only one shows up on the monitor and manager.exe and saves the frames. If I turn one of the computers off then the other is recognised by the manager/monitor and the frames are saved.. There are no errors showing up on the server/monitior when this happens.

The only plugin we use is mental ray - anyone have any ideas?
