Unlimited has hair, cloth, fluids and fur et al. If I remember correctly, it also grants a more seats for batch rendering. These are the "pros". The con is that it will cost you (approx) $AU9-10,000 as opposed to (approx) $AU2-3,000. If you only need a cloth sim, try Maya Complete and a 3rd party plugin.

Thanks shaneis

My Personal Opinion

For Film Production use Maya Unlimited it gives you the Elements posted by shaneis

For Architectural Visualisation use Complete with mentalray

Just like what max and viz do!!!

think about this:
if you have arial footage of a site, and you need to composite the model of the building on the site, how would you do that in Complete?

You'd have either a crap-ton of work to do, or you'd have to purchase some sort of camera matching software.

With Unlimited, you can use Maya Live and skip the head ache.

Yes but I thing buying a Matchmoving software is much more convenient and less expensive than additional 5000$ to go unlimited.

i will say, you get what you pay for. I've used both Live and plug-in/standalone matching software. Live was the easiest by far, and the least jittery.

Yes Nick you're Right but for companies for example it's a matter of investment in my company we've got 2 liscences of Unlimited and others are in complete....but we are using boujou for camera tracking and toxik for compositing....

Any way it's just a matter of money counting.

if you've got compositing software, I agree that Unlimited may be a little much for Arch Viz. Not all firms are that dedicated to their renders. My background is in TV media where updated software, and getting the most from the least is important. No one likes to change platforms and software in the middle of a project, and we've all done it!

For some studios/firms time is money.
