Default Max 2008 F3, then crash

We just installed Max 2008 last week. We're liking it. There are a couple files we have had problems workign with. The models were opened in wireframe, we manipulated and orbited around the scene fine, but as soon as we switch to shaded, it gives the "an error occured....." warning and shuts down.

Has anyone experienced that and have you got a fix?

I've had that a couple times... It was solved when I switched the viewport acceleration to software.

That's what I think he meant. Are you having the problem to Ed?
