Now that it's over it's time to ask the questions: Did it turn out how you hoped? Was there more attendance? Were the two sides (BIM vs. Viz) represented well and was the content properly suited to each? And lastly, will AIA be the venue for the forseeable future?

There are always challenges and things you want to improve and change, but the feedback we've been receiving so far was that this was our best event to date. Sponsors, speakers and attendees all seem to be very happy. It's still not as perfect as I want it, but if you don't set the bar high then you never improve. As far as being at AIA, it seems like this is a good venue for the event, so the plan for now is to continue tagging along aside this conference, which is in San Francisco next year.

I have been speaking with the SIGGRAPH conference chair so there might be a possibility for it to come back to SIGGRAPH again as well, but that is still being hashed out. For now, officially we're sticking around the AIA.

The attendance was the largest we've ever had, around 350 total people on site. The division between BIM and ArchVis sessions was about 60/40 (ArchViz/BIM). Each session on average had 80-130 people.

Of course this is you Jeff. For us (attendee / speaker) it was very well organised, very smooth, good session, good fun, interesting, etc. All we can want + 10x more.
It has been realyl well organised by the whole team, with tremendous support and fun.

I found the balance between the sessions good, a pitty we'd have to choose between sessions, but than again: otherwise we'd have to listen to things that don't interest us so much (although to me this is the MOst interesting part, because I get to see the things I would never go and look for: ready on a plate, in a more relaxed (holiday vs work) environment...

I for anything to change on the VMDC, I would vote for 3 days instead of two!

rgds,

nisus

...and for location or AIA/Siggraph link... as long as there is a piano and a bunch of good friends ,-)))

Agreed. It was a pitty you weren't there Brian. We missed you and Scott.

It really was the best conference yet. And by the showing of hands, there was a slew of first-timers attending.

Sessions were better than ever.

I mentioned it in my feedback form, but the only thing I would change, is to not stack multiple Arch-Viz sessions over each other. It wasn't too bad choosing between BIM and Viz, but betweeen two viz's was tough.

Looking forward to Than Fran Thithco!

is There any way To have more Than 1x= 2x conference(s) per year
1 on East Coast early summer and Then have one at Autodesk University

usually late Nov/Dec (varies)

or in San (your favorite Cauliflowerfornia city goes here) on The west coast

????

maybe could get more peoples involved

just a random idea

It's not impossible that we may one day have more than one conference per year, but given the work and time it takes to organize just one (around 5 months of solid work), it's unlikely that will happen soon.

It was great conference this year and I would agree with Nisus, a 3rd day would be nice so as to avoid concurrent sessions and not having to miss anything on the same track. The split of ArchViz / BIM was a welcomed change for me this year. Thanks for all the work on it, looking forward to next year. Maybe a brew house for the Launch Party??? (good idea there BKitts).

Cheers!
