Post Uniform's New Film - Atria

The creative centres around the two large internal glazed 'atria' where light and void are used as a navigational tool through the building. With sound design from our friends at Radium and some quality high res images, the result is a slick package that fits Bruntwood like a tight black glove... Check out the film on the site.

I love Uniforms work - for me they are the best studio in terms of innovation and output quality. This video is no exception, great concept beautifully produced with superb timing, attention to detail and quality of light. I check their site regularly for new stuff and each new release always brings a smile to my face.

Great stuff and always something to aspire to.

I miss the story in this animation. It looks like this was one of their faster production anims as (imo) I have seen better. Also the camera work (the camera tilt right through) was a bit much. No matter, it is still a good anim

HI all

Hi Nils!

I work at uniform at did not even know anyone else had seen it !

yeah it was quickER turn around, still a very good job!

Mark worked it up mostly on his own. If you would like a brake down of timings, techniques etc i'm sure he would be more than happy to share.

Watch this space as Uniform has just completed some fantastic films in the last month.

thanks

Mike

Somebody may want to re-word this a little. Brentwood and tight black gloves immediatly conjured up this image in my head.

I didn't know anyone had seen it either!

Like Mike said it was a quickER job than some of the bigger budget films we've been creating in and around London etc but none the less it all came together great in the end and fits nicely into the marketing for the scheme.

The concept was to show key areas inside the building but not to follow the standard 'fly-through' approach. Instead, we wanted to take the great colour palette from the interior designers, mix it up with the strong graphic logo and create a journey that engages and excites. I reckon we did that pretty well.

It was all modelled in Max and rendered with Vray then comped together and graphics/post work added with After Effects.

We used Max2AE to get our Max cameras and location data for all the 2D type in After Effects to sit it nicely into the rendered footage. The stylised 'transition' furniture was a mix of dirt, semi-transparent and self illuminated passes and we used RPManager to manage the huge number of passes that made up the film.

The 'lines' we used as a vehicle to guide us through the film, made use of an animated Path Deform modifier.

Glad you all liked it. Keep checking back to our site for the next film. It's a good one...!

Mark

Thanks for your time Mark much appreciated and nice to know how you guys work. I work with vrayforC4D which doesn't have dirt yet unfortunately as it produces some nice effects.

I am just starting in AE too and I think C4D is supposed to work quite well with it so good to know that you used AE to add the text in 3D space - I would have done it in cinema but now you have inspired me to investigate AE further. Man there is so much to learn and so little time!

I'm just finishing my thesis for my Msc in digital architecture and have actually done a short critical analysis of three of your films! not overly insightful though!

Cheers,
Rob
