I Think it's Better for Autodesk coz Maya is now the Film and Animation production software and Max will be the master for Archviz and Game..
I think max need more effort to be the best for Archviz.... and I hope this will be better for the software |

From my perspective, I will be sad to see it go away. I got my start in 3d years ago on Viz 2.0. But another part of me that sees the internal workings of 3dsmax will be happy to see it go.
