Hi, Ive got some questions:

Quote:
9. All submissions must be computer generated imagery. 2D and 3D is accepted as long as it meets the challenge criteria and competition rules. Be aware there are animations challenges if you opt to do a 2D digital image.
So the image for the first part of the competition has to be somewhat a "screenshot" from the second part of the competition (the animation)? Its not allowed for the image to vary from the animation?

Quote:
In this challenge you are required to design, model and render an exterior view of this new interpretive center. The rendering should show the interpretive center in context of the tower and the surrounding ocean shoreline.
Does this mean the external image has to have the cliffs/ocean included in the final view?

Thanks

It can vary, it's just a warning so you don't go 2D and then have to re-invent the wheel. You can however do whatever you like for the two.

It should show the context somehow yes. That's why we provided a model of the tower and terrain. You should know from the image that this interpretive center is for the Tower of Hercules and not just a random rendering of a building.

Of course. Bearing that in mind is it enough to include the Tower of Hercules in the shot and not the water/cliffs? Is it ok to produce the view more from an inland shot rather than from the ocean?

Thanks

Ok, I have now checked and checked everything from the downloaded files, but I think I'm missing something or just not getting it, here is a quote from the challenge page -

"You can download a textured model of the tower and a model of the surrounding terrain "

the textured model for the terrain i have, but not the textured version of the tower. I have all the textures for the tower, but when importing/merging/opening the tower models i only get a matt colored model?

is this right?

Hi Adriaan,
well Ive got the model in a raw state aswell without textures applied. I just figured we'll have to do the mapping ourselves.

The Sketchup version - it looks like that's the original - has the textures mapped. My office has Sketchup Pro so I've got a better 3DS export sitting here - if you guys want it, PM me your email address.
