when you say "..add small fillets/chamfers to catch the light on the edges.", a slightly chamfered version of the box shape supplied would be Admissible?

Only if the chamfer is being created to catch light, and not to affect the orginal shape.

Hi Jeff,

It mentions that scores will be added together for the still image and animation competitions to judge placements. Does this mean that any applicant must complete both sections? For example I would be interested in submitting a still image but I don't think i'd have time or resources to submit an animation. Does this mean I can't enter?

Cheers,

Cheers,
You can still enter if you like, but you are correct that both the image and animation will be scored, whether submitted or not. So if you did not submit an animation, you would receive a zero score and a maximum total score of 1000/2000.

Thanks for the speedy answer Jeff! Maybe time to start practising my animation skills then!

I didn't see this on the website but is there a guide time to how long animation entries should be? Or is it up to the entrant? I'd hate to submit something 30-60 seconds long if other people are going to be entering 5 minute masterpieces!

Also, I may have missed this on the website also but is this a completely individual effort? There are no group submissions allowed?

Cheers again,

It's up to each entrant on what they think is reasonable to show off their work and create the most engaging animation.

All individual effort. There is no team category this year.

Evening Jeff, quick question

"architectural scene or form/shape study"

does this include an interior scene? obviously everything (furniture/light fixtures) built up (not modeled) from the provided blocks only?

thanx

It can be whatever you want. As long as it's something architectural.

Well, I've submitted!

But of a pain about my qualification round submission image though, because of the dimensions of the image it appears in the browser window as incredibly tiny and is really difficult to understand. When it comes to public voting for these images will these thumbnails be linked to larger versions of the images? My concept really gets lost at that scale.

The voting interface is completely different and will not scale the images. Voters will also be able to view full size versions as well.
