Thanks fellas, appreciate all the crits and kind words equally!
I agree with all of your comments, i'm really gutted i didnt have enough time to take this image to the level i wanted, but i'm going to do my best for the second part... still much much to do! as for camera angle, i think i might have made the mistake of trying to include as much of the design in one image.. i think maybe i should've gone for a more abstract / closer image to show the level of detail gone through in this project.. anyway, this is my very first competition and i'm enjoying every minute of it! =) as for the stolen statues, i dont think they'll get far since i havent even modeled any roads for them yet thanks again

OOPS,, I posted this in WIP, when i meant it for FINAL
hmmm,, funny a lot of you mentioned in your comments about not knowing whether its a moon or sun. I think in Jordan our skies are pretty clear and the moon does shine that bright and is that big and sometimes has a gorgeous yellow/orange colour. But maybe amer you should've looked into the moons effect in spain, I also agree with Koper and Horhe, there should be more lighting going on in the gardens and I would like to see more activity around the lighthouse, but I suppose you were all pressed with time. Btw on the moon note, I have attached an image of the moon that I took with my phone camera just for you to see what the moon looks like here. its that shinning sphere in-between the two hideous buildings and thats not even it at its best! Oh yeah, the sun and the moon shine bright in the desert skies! http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/attach...5&d=1209491728 |

Spotted a couple of modeling issues which might be worth fixing for the animation...
* hand rail curve needs fixing (in foreground, to right of person), * glass lattice is floating in and out of the pavement. All the best, S. |

Sorry, but a couple more...
* the pavement edges seem jagged rather than a smooth curve, * ground plane floats above and below the pavement edge (similar to the lattice/ pavement problem in previous post). That's all, S. |

Amer,
I gather as you mentioned in an earlier post that you are actually an architect and i think that your builidng reflects this. I like the design, it is well thought out and presented well. I really like the feeling of depth as you look down into the exhibition which also looks well lit and realistic. However i think that the time the image is set at is confusing and i'm not liking the sky. The exterior landscaping too is very basic and looks like what we we're given. The tower also has a wierd perspective on it. Overall i think it is an intelligent image but would have been better at a slightly earlier time with some more dramatic shadows from the environment. Congrats and good luck! |

Shane, thanks for pointing them out, i'm aware of them..and quite a few more actually!
Chris, I am an architect.. I spent too much time on design, and not enough on visulaisation... The render took much more time than expected which left me rushing all post work in less than 20 minutes.. I agree with you on the day shadows being more interesting since they interact well with the design, and i hope to be able to show this all (day/night) in my animation part! thanks for your input!

Great design Amer!!
as i was expecting. your render is ok but not great looking. a little disappointing actually. specially the background, over all color sceme and the moon is not match to your standard. i've seen better from you. very retro feel to it..once again its one of the best designs so far no doubt. Good Luck!! |

Amer,
Your design is one of my favorites. I really appreciate the time that you put into it. I like the lighting inside the building a lot. It makes the place very inviting. It is hard to know what time of day it is. I think that your illustration is a little bit too dark especially with such a bright moon/sun in the background. I guess it helped to do without showing little if any of the terrain. The background plate looks blurry as if it was very low resolution. The texture work needs attention especially in the round walk way around the opening to gallery. Also,I would have chose one of the first camera views from your WIP looking up to the tower. I don't think that this one is helping you to visualize your design the best. There is a lot of potential and opportunities for the animation. I am looking forward to seeing your WIPs. Good luck! |
