Default CAD house plans

Does anyone have any idea where I would be able to download FREE house plans. Cheeky? I hope not . I am trying to train myself how to convert .dwg plans into a model using SketchUp.
I have done the obvious and searched Google with very little luck.
I would be after a range of plans from simple single level residences through to complex multi-level residences.
And at this stage I don't want to have to redraw plans from pdfs.

Am I just being over optimistic? Plans=$$

cheers in advance

Bob

There have been a few threads about this before. Try using the search function and use the keyword "blueprint"

Im pretty sure they ended up concluding that its very hard to find any free plans that are decent on the net since 9/11.

Let us know what you come up with...

if you already have the pdf's you can convert them to dwg using adobe illustrator. you will need to scale them correctly afterwards though.

...because NURBS curves are extremely helpful when using Sketchup which is A POLYGON MODELING PROGRAM. Really now, it's graphics, not nanotech.

Wink Re: CAD house plans

SPLINES are a component of NURBS surfaces.

i doubt there will be many if any splines contained in a PDF. but there will be ARCs and other elements you do not want to be approximated facets.

i only mention it because it is a better option in many cases. for those that don't want to pay money for illustrator or some other tool. Rhinoceros is free to us for this purpose. (extracting the vectors from a PDF)

i don't know much about sketchup but i do open files from and and save files to it's format for people who do use it to play around with conceptual sketchy stuff from the Rhino.
