I think you're right. Nobody is using this. I was a beta tester for v1 and I just couldn't find any point in my workflow where it made sense to do all the CAD file munging to make it work. If they've made the interface a lot smoother for going from an SD/DD level CAD drawing straight to Impression without banging your head on the keyboard it might be a very good tool.

I kinda like it. The fact that you can link it and update the cad linework is great. Doesn't force you to reimport like P-shop. Also very forgiving when it comes to gaps in the linework. I'm starting to use it more and more in site plan presentations.

in many respects impression is more like illustrator than photoshop, except it lacks the features one would seek out when things start to go awry with the file. Also i hate how everyone seems to call it "impressions" what the heck, it's not plural! all in all impression is a simple program to do some simple tasks. It's designed to do a few specific tasks which it can most times perform. To give it any more credit than that isn't neccesary. If you already have a working knowledge of photoshop or illustrator it wont make your life any easier, whereas if you have no idea what photoshop or illustrator are, it may be PERFECT for you. |
