Unhappy VRay Image - 47 Hours to Render? H-E-L-P

Ok. I "know" I am douing something wrong here.

Basic White Room
6 Chrome Chairs
1 Chrome Table with Glass Top
Mirror - 1/3 of rear wall

3400 x 2200 rendering

47 hours to complete? + it took 4.5 hours to solve! (E6600 DualCore with 3.0Gb RAM)

I have 2 vray portals, 2 vray plane lights and 6 vray IES spots (note: no Vray Sun)

Is this too many lights?
I have the settings set as low as possible, without making the image too noisy.

I have searched and searched with little help. Is interior lighting without Sun/Sky the holy grail of Vray? (meaning: only a few know how to do this and are unwilling to share?)

Sorry for the lengthy question on a Sunday...but my head hurts, and I want to lie down

Thanks

I would recommend posting a copy of one of the chairs, and a copy of the basic room so people in the know can download it, and analyze both your material settings, and your GI settings. I am guessing it is a combination of both that is slowing down your scene.

Also, post your machine specs.

You could post screen shots of your settings, but it will be more difficult for people to help you.

The shot of whiskey at last call is never a good idea. I don't care what your buddy sitting next to you says.

Yes, I know that posting the file/settings would help. However, as it is a WIP, and the client is a VIP, I cannot post them...yet.

Vray seems to get stuck on the Glass and Chrome table, and I mean STUCK. The rest of the scene flys.

I am using a vray mat that I dl'd from vraymaterials.de so I assumed they were optimized.

But I guess my overall question in on lighting. For a typical windowless room, say 20' x 24', how many lights ( and how large should the vray plane light be ) is a good number?

Again, sorry for the vagueness of this post.

This might be the problem. The materials on that site are typically not optimized for architectural renderings. They are fine for product shots, but more than likely the need the subdivisions, and trace depth lowered if you are going to get decent render times using them.

So I'm assuming if you hide the table it will only take a couple hours to render ?

Yes, I removed the table and chairs and the problem lies within them.

So that's the solution.

Client doesn't need chairs anyways

Thanks everyone

If the problem is with the table and chair try turning them into proxies may help with the calculations.
