Nick,
Yes, the bike is a placeholder (to check the lighting) whilst the rendering. The re-toucher will mask the bike properly etc.

Im loving working with a photographer and a re-toucher. Its not strictly architectural stuff, but loads of fun.

I've taken a few photos like that before, so I know what you mean. On a long drive across a big portion of the US you get bored, but don't want to stop to take photos. I sometimes take them when I'm driving, which is a really bad idea. |

I like the style of the rendering. It does look like a tourist picture. I can imagine being on a road trip and not being able to stop, but wanting to capture that fleeting golden hour.
The selection of site is nice too. It reminds me of Cannes. Date palms and seaside hills. You mentioned adding more elements to this rendering. How about a hint of the rear view mirror in the foreground and maybe some blurred benches and a person on the sidewalk, or a hint of a sailboat in the bay? Not too much stuff. Just some subtle elements that bring it to life. I would love to see the final... |

Check color temperature of the sky and lamps. Lamps couldn't be so white. IMHO. http://www.flickr.com/photos/rougerouge/2050814220/
