I think the main problems here are to do with the model and composition. This is ok for testiong, but for a more polished peice of wqork, you need a more attractive space/subject matter to render.

Very true Tom, I just figured that it might be a good scene for testing because it isn't architecturally beautiful. That way I can focus on materials and technique rather than being distracted by the "WOW" of a beautiful space. I worked for some time with a large residential project builder who churned-out vanilla housing year after year. I've often wondered if it's possible to portray a space like that in an attractive way. I guess I'm about to find out!

Lighting is most important thing for arch viz. Every scene could be attractive if the lighting is ok. For me the best way to make beautiful picture is to find attractive reference and try follow main composition, lighting and color idea.

YES. I am slowly learning that painful truth. Besides some of the other comments. What caught my eye is the noise in the shadow edge ..... something doesn't look right. Looking forward to seeing the next step.

A small update. Using Final Gather and reflective caustics, definitely adding more light and contrast to the scene and without refractive caustics, faster than I expected.
I've removed half of the rafters (thanks TommyL) and in the process of re-furnishing the lounge view...will post it when done. S. |

Much better. Mabe background is little too bright. You have 17pm sun angle, but it is like at noon. And to connect interior with background put a branch shadow. IMHO
