Second render from a personal project. Maya, mental ray and a little Photoshop jiggery-pokery. C&C most welcome.
S. EDIT: As this place isn't likely to be built (unless I win the lottery), I flipped the image...because I can! I like it much more - the composition seems easier on the eye. Last edited by shaneis; July 25th, 2008 at 01:03 AM. |

Looks good, the backround image goes well with your scene.
The only thing I can comment on is, your windows dont have curtains. I agree the flipped image is better.

As for the curtains, the building is meant to be in the back waters of the Hawkesbury River valley (see below). I just figured that curtains would not be an issue. Will put something in though...maybe cedar Venetians... |

There are too many rafters which make them look out of scale compared to the (horrible) purple chairs.

nice work and great composition - i also like the flipped image better
the reflections off the benchtop are great - guess mental ray can do it as well as any minor unimportant detail i would consider is the number of drawers - they look pretty small - maybe fewer drawers but bigger cheers, |

Too many rafters, too many drawers. I guess less is more. I would also move the chairs and table a little more away from the wall.

Looks little flat and harsh, there should be more GI. Especially from highligh on the floor.

Thanks for your input everyone. OK, rafters and drawers are on their way out, so are the (horrible) chairs. Kopeykin, yes it is lacking GI, I'm trying to see what I can get out of only Final Gather.
It's also the first time I've taken a serious look at the mr_physicalSun/Sky system - always used HDRi previously. At the moment, it's not going as well as I'd like so I guess I'll have to get some photons going to spread the light around. I might see what happens with FG and relfective caustics instead of FG and GI. I'm setting some renders tonight, will post them once they're done. Thanks again for al the comments, S. |
