Is it any wonder why architects practices are shunning 3D viz in favour of more traditional AI's when people are charging that sort of price for 1 shot!!

Unless you work for an architects practice, then you cut out the middle man! As for the price guide quoted above thats the going rate for the South of england, I have in the past been quoted £5000 a shot from some of the vis studios in and around london................

Recently saw a quote of 20k for three still images - nice work if you can get it!

Agreed, but my experience of Architects here in the north is that they prefer to outsource rather than do it in house mainly because of the cost of Max & asscociated hardware & salary cost. I don't know about anyone else but with the downturn in the New Build market architects just aren't commisioning 3D viz. Most seem to be pulling viz straight from AutoCad.

As for London prices well i suppose office space is expensive ( much sarcasm )

That is taking the mickey big style. Still if you're daft enough to pay it. But IMHO it's those sort of quotes that kill it for the small Viz studios if you know what i mean.

The £20k price ticket on three stills does seem crazy, but they would pobably be uber high quality, and perhaps done to very tight deadlines too. But yeah, nice work if you can get it!

Not all Northern architects outsource, this one doesnt anyway . A number of the big ones certainly do the work in-house too.

20K??

images for advertising (billboards/international campains etc) can often cost that much....but arch work?!

Seems pretty bonkers for stills.

Although........I did quote on a massive animation job - 300 odd houses, I think i went in at around 30k, but still that was months of work, not 3 stills.
