mobo uses intel5400 chipset -good choice.

You'll need a good high wattage power supply - don't overlook this (consider future upgrades)

Consider getting 8GB ram if you can afford it. You'll need FB dims - not sure thats whats been spec'd though.

I think the 1TB samsung F1's have had better reviews than the seagate (unless its very new).

Not familiar with the case, check that it has CEB mobo mounts.

Graphics cards depend on the apps used. Most apps that use direct x can run fine on a modern Geforce card saving hundreds of bucks. Ones that require open gl might benefit from the quadro?

The thing to consider about graphics cards is that the hardware is very similar between the quadros and the geforces. You are mainly paying a lot extra for the quadro's drivers and support. You will get faster, newer, more powerful hardware by getting a current gaming/desktop card from nvidia or amd (ati), but you will get the advanced performance drivers with a quadro.

Basically, to get a quadro that has a better output than new gaming card you'll have to spend thousands. Yes quadros are better if you get a current high end one, but I'd rather have the latest high performance gaming card for a few hundred pounds and save the extra thousand for upgrades, or in the case of the fx1700, I'd rather spend the cost of it on getting a new highend gaming card. This is my personal opinion only!

Look at the specs of two cards and compare texture fill rates and memory bandwidth etc. While they can't be directly compared (due to differences in their components), it will give you an idea of the differences.

Autodesk products are (mostly) programmed to get better results from direct x these days.

Also consider that some geforce cards can be forced to use quadro drivers. At the end of the day try and read as many reviews as you can and make a balance decision based on the knowledge you've aquired.

Have you read this thread: http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/29581-...ng-advice.html

Good luck

Geforce for Max and Autocad. If you want to Revit - anything but Geforce.
