Here are some more ideas I came across while doing a Google image search for modern furniture and modern lighting design. Why modern? I think typically modern furniture is more straight edge, which tends to be easier to model for beginners. Yet, the furniture is sleek enough for the advanced users as well.

I really like those 3 images you posted. You have to remember that beginner could mean someone just starting out to someone about to reach intermediate level of modeling. So i say with the 3 images make 1. super easy, 2. easy, 3. little more challenging. and this way it will cover all beginners and get more people involved that wouldn't normally participate because the skill level is too high.. We have a really good idea going on here i would like to see it implemented soon as its summer and people have more time to participate before school starts again.. just post 3 images and lets give it a shot.. I volunteer myself to help in any way that i can as i am home all day and have plenty of time.

Maybe voting for a single image is the wrong idea.

Maybe we should have a choice (as Marc stated) - Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

Any and all would be fair game for the week.

I think this way we would be able to cater to all levels at the same time, with WIPs from all three going on simultaneously.

I'll give this a few hours and will make a new sub-forum - no voting, just 'Here are the 3 photos for this time period - knock yourselves out'.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Hey guys,
I was flicking through this thread and got mega-confused trying to figure out what the status was with this whole dupe-a-photo thing! I'm new to 3ds and am very keen to get involved for my own learning (and i've found feedback on cgarchitect real helpful so far) but it appears it has all got a bit clogged up. Or is this still active and are people still keen?

In the mean time, i spotted the image below somewhere in this thread and thought I'd have a crack for my own learning. Unfortunately it turned out a bit rough, so had a crack at doing post-prod for the first time. still mega rough!

Cheers,
Will

hey and welcome...

You picked one of my favourite photos from here.
Not sure why I like it so much, but the stairs, concrete, fencing and grass just appeals to me.

I think the model itself is good, but the lighting needs some work.
