Default Cutting Through A Model?

hi guys, ive been asked to do a 3d image of a section through a house model, is there a way of making the camera cut through the scene without distorting the camera.....

Any advice would be much appreciated.... regards dan

you can use camera clipping planesif you want to make the section paralel to the camera view, or you can select the whole model and allpy a "slice" modifier, and a "cap holes" modifier, and play around with that.

im trying to do the camera clipping plane, but cant find a tutorial on how to do it .....

any ideas or any tips

It depends on the level of detail you wish to attain. Some section processes will leave your mesh open at the section cut. You may want to consider physically cutting up your model with the knife tool and removing the excess, or even modelling in what would be revealed when the section is taken. You can use a boole object to obtain a section with the faces filled in or not.

Well, it's quite simple
place the camera in your scene and use the near clip value to cut where you want (the value is the distance from the camera to the clipping plane, anything closer to the camera will not be displayed)

HMMMMM boole now theres an idea,

yeah just ticking over for the next couple of weeks, then have to look at new job.... bit crap up here in the north east no residential work at all.... im qualified as an architect technician who does 3d work too.... everyone seems to be getting laid off, so not much hope of finding another job in the industry for a while.... well until the credit crunch is finished.... lol

cliping planes very easy, in what i use at least

i was going to respond with use the Archcut plugin but your desires are different.

hi,
this is a simple xpresso set-up of parallel cameras.
it ties the DOF target distance with the near clipping.
this way you can set it precisely by moving the central orange handle of the camera
