She had no idea what event he could be referring to, but apologized immediately. This left him nothing to argue with, so, unsatisfied, he returned to his car, opened the driver's door timed perfectly for a passing bus to rip it completely off the car. Fortunately, the bus missed the guy.

How's that for priceless? My wife does not think its funny or see the value in witnessing a 'nobody got hurt' accident, but then she's not an artist. It just goes to show--in LA you don't get out of your car. Bad things happen.
The event your wife experienced feels like its taken from a movie; its so surreal, at least to me, I don't even own a car but do rent one every time I am in LA. I am not fond of traffic cops writing parking tickets but I do not use baseball bats on officers windshields, knives on their car tires or fists on their faces. Such events happens frequently in LA in addition to more serious sh** like people pulling guns on fellow motorists. I fear it is going to become a lot worse driving in LA in the coming years before it gets better. Perhaps if oil prices sky rocket and the Governator starts implementing more public transport projects "the heat" on the freeways will cool down somewhat.

Oh and I do have some LA/Siggraph pix. If I can just get around to get them organized.

Thank you Brandon.

I enjoy digital photography because of it's speed and flexibility. I also like just bringing images into Photoshop and experimenting with every aspect of the image: composition, exposure, hues, whatever.

The goal with photography is pretty much the same as it is with 3D rendering: Communication. Post work is where you edit, polish and focus your message.

Here is a shot of these very well-dressed businessmen walking into the barrio. The LA convention center is in the background. They look pretty important and confident to me.

I used a little post work to really drive that message home and even "caricaturize" them a bit.

Luckily, no Nikons or their owners were harmed...

you sure know how to use that Nikon - some of your shots on flickr are outstanding - i especially liked the close-ups of flowers - which model camera do you use?

just like NY - LA has its own flavour ... and some people's values align to it or not ...
