Default Somewhat of a farewell...

Hey all,

In a few days I'll be switching jobs to be a Web Graphic Specialist at Erdman, a healthcare design/build firm. I just wanted to give a big thank you to everyone that helped me hone my skills in this field the last 5 years. I couldn't have done it without you guys. CGA was instrumental in my skill level and success.

I'm leaving the field due to a complete lack of 3d viz work. As some may remember, I switched from a renderer job about 6 months ago due to a lack of projects (about 1-2 hotels a month) to an in-house position at a reputable firm. The end result of this switch was less work (0 'final' renders) in 6+ months at this position. Waiting for work has somewhat soured me to the field, has halted my developmental progress in 3DStudio Max and has broken my spirit a bit. I just need some time away from it all.

I plan to pick up small freelance 3d projects, working on non-architectural 3d work, and I'll be working on my hi-res 3D people for arch viz under my company's moniker, Graphic Acrobatics...so I'm not so much saying goodbye as I am saying see you later. I'll definitely be back to get feedback on that project. And I'll drop by from time to time I'm sure.

So, with that, I'll catch you all on the flipside.

- Ryan

Damn Ryan... That's very sad. Well, the new position will bring new opportunities, eh?

I'll miss your posts.

Good luck

Difficult times..for us small freelancers / studios.
Have to hold on to our nerves.

First it was aaron (cds) and then you. Tough choice.

Good luck in your new role!

Unfortunately, unless things improve soon, you will be one of the first of very many to leave the industry. Lets hope things get better sooner rather than later.

Thanks to all for the responses.

And yes, I did some light spacial stuff...but nothing that came to fruition. As much as I wanted to, there just wasn't enough work to support a 2nd 3d artist on staff.
