Default maps not showing up in 3ds max design 2009

Hey everyone,

I know 3d max pretty well so my company let me do some renderings for them using 3DS Max Design 2009. There is one problem I can not figure out though. When I use a map it does not show up in the viewport. I have the "show map in viewport" selected and it changes the object that I have the map assigned to as a grey color. Does anyone know why it is doing this? Maybe it is the graphics card on my work comp? Is there a new setting I am not aware of? I tried the same thing on my comp at home with the trial version and it did the same thing. I find this a little weird because it did not do this on Max 9 when I was working on my capstone project in school. Any help would be appreciated! I need to figure this out because I usually use the map gizmo to scale my maps and I can't use that method if I can't see the map.
