I purchased some model off of Trubo Squid that were pre-rigged for animation. When I open them I get this missing DLL error apparently it’s a plugin used to create maps for the original models. I’ve replaced all the materials and saved out a new scene but when I open the new file it’s still looking for this plugin. Is there a way to remove it from the scene file since it’s no longer being used? The reason I’m asking is because I need to render this animation out on my farm and because the nodes are also looking for the plugin they won’t render.

I would assign a new material to the entire scene. Not just an over ride, but a new material. Does the error exist then?
If it does, then the reference to the DLL is not located in the materials, and you can begin to look elsewhere. If it does not give the error, then we know it is in the materials, so it is just a matter of isolating where the reference is. I was having a lot of problems recently because defaults for Light were set to use Vray Shadows. None of the lights in my scene was set to Vray shadow, but the default was. I didn't have Vray installed, and it would give me an error message. The solution was to select the light, and simply move the default to a ray traced shadow. What I am getting at is that one of Max's material options may have been set to default tot his plug-in when you were using the files from Turbo Squid. You probbaly need to identify what material type it was, and make sure the default are set properly. I am attaching a jpeg to this post. The left portion shows what my default looked like when it was trying to load a Vray Shadow. The drop down box was empty. I simply set the drop down to use something that I did have installed by default, and that fixed the problem.

I figured out what the problem was, there was a UVW clear modifier in the modifier stack and for some reason although I had already replaced all the materials in the scene it was still holding onto the something that was looking for this plugin. I deleted it and it works fine now, thanks for responding.
