Hi all
I am working on a new project at office. While working with boolen i have a problem. its not giving the desired results. When i do boolean more than two times on a single object, its start missing the interlinking faces. How, i don't know. Any one who knows how to fix this? Thanks ![]()

Probably better to post this problem under your specific software... I take it that you are using max or viz?
Max and viz really do have poor booleans so you are best to try and avoid using them at all costs. The example that you have shown could have easily been made from extruded splines for example. If you really have to use booleans then take a look at the Power Booleans plugin, it works much better than max's booleans. Craig

Strat if you look at the circles that have been marked with green they have an inner edge where as the booleans that didn't work correctly are missing the inner edge. It would be easier to see if the object was thicker.

yeah, i see it now.
max/viz booleans aren't really that crap, you just need to know how to use them effectively/correctly. insert a load more faces into that green flat bit, and also make object editable between each boolean. |

Yeah I wouldn't say they are crap but beginners tend to find it difficult to get a grasp of.
They work better if you are cutting into a dense mesh then you can use the optimise modifier to reduce the amount of faces in the object. I found a tutorial on max booleans once... I will try and find it and post a link. Craig

boolean operation like this one (holes in a curved surface) don't work well with mesh objects.
max's booleans also are can't handle multiple operators very good (lots of holes). the best way would be to do it with solids/nurbs. with autocad or rhino. or even archicad, in case of windows. there are plugins for max for better booleans, power solids and power booleans, but i don't recommend them, since they are expensive and buggy. |

Plastic have you had problems with power booleans? I have it installed and think it is fantastic, I hardly ever have problems with it :???:
