Post

Hi everyone, first time poster, long time lurker. I wish my first post wasn't a problem, but I can't figure this one out. I was going to post an image, but now it's missing some walls

I'm using the VectorWorks Export/Import plug-in and after letting a render go over night, I found out this morning a few walls were missing. I linked the problem to my door symbols. I ran some tests and I hope someone has a solution to using symbols and getting a proper translation.

My test:
I had 3 separate walls (wall tool) and inserted 3 types of doors. 1) Door plug-in object from the VW objects on class "door2" (PIO was simple door 2) 2) Door symbol I created with nested classes on "door" and "door frame". The symbol was then set to class "door" 3) Frame symbol with a nested class called "door frame". I then used the wall tool to make a door (door class), the door wasn't within the symbol though.
I then export from VW. Set it to export based on classes and set the plug-in option to take on plug-in object class. This should create a material for each class I created.

My results in C4D:
1) Plug-in door: it used the none material and not the door2 material I had set in VW.
2) Door symbol: I had a door material for the door, but the frame used the None material (the symbol was set to door in VW, had nothing to do with the none class)
3) Frame symbol: The frame used the none material (was set to door frame in VW) but the door came in fine (had a door material tag to it)

The only work around I can think of , is to edit the PIO script and set the door and frame to proper classes. It's a band aid solution, because we use symbols with nested symbols quite a bit and this would cause a headache for other types of objects other than a simple door.

Any ideas from others that have encountered this problem?
