I have quit al lot of experience with Maya and now I try to learn some more about Mental Ray in Maya 5.0.
Only one problem with texturing I can not fix, maybe someone knows a solution.
When I texture a wall with a Maya-shader (a lambert with a JPG attached to the color-node) the texture looks good as long as I don't repeat the texture.
I use the normal way of assinging the texture to the face and then use: texture>planar mapping.
As long as the texture does not repeat, it look perfect, but when I repeat by scaling the planar mapping it becomes black in the rendering.

I tried to achieve the same by scaling the texture in de 2Dplacementnode in the hypeshade. But then I get the same kind of result.

I'd say to get answers probably quicker go to www.cgtalk.com and down to the Maya forum.

Cgtalk has alot more active Maya users.

Problem solved!
Mental Ray doesn't like it when I switch off the filtering.
