Question

Hi, guys!
I'm having a serious problem using VRay and RPC content. Whenever I try to render a scene that contains RPC's, the program simply disappears from the screen. No messages, no over-active disk, nothing. What's going on? Is there a way to fix this? It happens either on 3ds max 3 and Viz 4.

not sure ricky but all i know is that vray isn't good with opacity maps, it just grinds to a halt or dissapears off screen as you said. I don't know about rpc' but i guess they work in a simpilar way with opac maps?

Here lies the strangeness of this, Matt: because of this problem with RPC's, I started to work with opacity maps only, and it really works great!
My first thought was just like yours: Vray should have a problem dealing with opactity, but it turned out to be another thing (which I still don't know what). If you check the image bellow

you'll see that the trees in the middle and on the left are opacity maps, and they worked really well (either the rendering time and shadow casting are nice). I guess I'm running out of options here, and probably will have to sitck with the opacity maps for a while...

Rick,

Download the RPC Photoshop plugin from rpc.net. Quick and easy.
