Here is a clip of my WIP for challenge #6,

This as you will see is only a sketch placed in the photo.. you can't see the upper part of the hotel.. its cut off because of the edge of the image.

This is only a prelimainary design.. "If I have the time" it willmost likely change quite a bit.

All comment welcomed!

Hi nichchris,

I like your way of working as it is most straightforward. Although sketching, scanning and scaling could be easyly enhanced with an intuos.

About the design, I'm not sure to have a good representation of scale yet. But after a finalised design, I'm sure I will.

Feel free to add more sky so we can see the top of the hotel.

Hi nisus, Strat...

Thanks for the comments.. Yeah the scale is not quite right on the old cut and paste.

Ghery.. I think this is right.. well it may look like Ghery right now.. but it won't in the end.
I think my sketch which lacks maturity conveys the wrong message.

I have already done a huge design enhancement while still holding on to the design concept
as it is currently shown, but I'm much happier with it right now..

I will post updates(more detailed pencil elevations in a in a few days)

Thumbs up

Well.. I know I said a few days.. but the design is going quite well..
so here is a semi-elevation showing only the facade, and a front plan.

Notice I have dug out the canal portion to allow people with small boats to enter the hotel
, and replaced the walkway with a bridge, not to interupt the pedestrian passage.

Don't anybody say too much too fast now.. this is turning into cgtalk.. without the talk!
Just a bunch ooglers ...

600 + hits .. but only 2 comments from site moderators! WoW.

I find that these types of internet communities have the possibility to inspire, outside of the
work and educational frameworks. But for that to happen we need participants, not window shoppers!

This is the reason why I walked away from cgtalk and never went back, lots of cg and no talk...

i love the sketch. still looks Ghery'ish to me, which is not a bad thing

btw, where'd you get 600 hits from???

you must be patient, cgarchitect hasn't anywhere near the same member count as cgtalk, so replies are usually allot more slow in comming, but the quallity of replies is so much higher than the shallowness (imho) you'll find in cgtalk.

Hi Strat,

Still looks Ghery'ish.. hey! ok..

>>> btw, where'd you get 600 hits from???

I have the pic linked to my site.. so I can see the hits..

Anyway you are right.. cgtalk has way more members.. but on that note I'm very happy that
the architecture portion has migrated to 'cga' because we are a breed of our own!

btw: thx for not simply flaming my post.

Yup I'll jump on board. I looked it over & I really like the sketch. Of course really want to see the model. Not quite sure if I agree with Strat seeing this like a Ghery. Actually I working on a sketch & thought it would be cool to drop the ground sufrace to the water. For a different affect though... You beat me to it :angecool:

It is a good hook lets see more.
