Hello All..... My first challenge, so please be gentle!!!
Computer specs Pentium P500 512 Mb RAM Using Form Z No Radiosity Lighting: I have adapted Delfoz's 'ring' method to produce 'fakiosity'. If anyone is interested i will post some screenshots, but it is basically the same lighting technique as shown in Delfoz's WIP #1. I have taken inspiration from a house in Germany (designed by David Chipperfield) and have textured the building entirely in a red brick. I have put quite a bit of time into the texturing so far but at the moment you cannot see it very well, so I think I may change my view to something a bit closer to the building! You will see what i mean if you look closely above and below the windows where there are some vertically laid brick courses. Anyway, it's still at quite an early stage just now, but any feedback at all is more than welcome.... thanks C ![]() |

Hey Just wanted to comment on the size of your brick. I'm not sure if you have the right size mapped to the house. I think you need to increase the size, but really hard to tell. If so, that might help you with seeing the verticle brick you're trying to show. Also you might try to add some bump map to the brick to give it some relief. Keep Going!

looks nice for a wip. need to sort that map size and tiling out tho.
I've been using my own modified 'ring' fakiosity technique for a couple of years now and i love the results. It's nice to see fakiosity being used in this challenge too, only it wasn't used in the last one by anyone. |

Thanks for the responses everyone!!
render time was about 45 minutes!! pretty slow for such alow res image, but form z has a pretty slow renderer... About the brick size.... I have created the maps so that the brick size + 1 strip of mortar is 65mm x 250 mm. I know that this is a bit smaller and a bit wider than a normal brick (british bricks anyway, i have a feeling that american bricks are different) but this was deliberate. I have enclosed some images of the chipperfield house i mentioned. If you inspect it you will notice that it also features a small, wide brick with quite a rusticated look to it, which is what i was trying to achieve..... However, i think i do need to work into the bump map a bit more to bring out the texture of the brickwork. Thanks again for all the comments..... it's a very new experience for me to recieve such constructive criticism!!!! The chipperfield house: ![]() |
