Well that sound simple enough.
Would you do me a favor and save out a copy of the HDRI image in TIFF format, so I can try it in a program that does not directly support HDRI--Lightscape? It can do image-based lighting in a Frankenstein sort of way. I had done a few tests with borrowed images in this thread I think the result was too difuse, not controlable. Soon I will be using C4D so I'll have to learn how to use HDRI properly. |

I'm in no rush to leave Lightscape, but it cannot hold on forever. I will just have to figure out how to get good results from C4D, too. I may still do alot of the work in Lightscape and transfer it out to C4D one way or another. |

Hi Ernest,
You get an BG image..so camera should be always the same. Then we have a complete scene with that teacup and spheres to compair the images but you can take the scene and put everything on it you want... i hope that this will give you the posebility to work creative with the enviroment; i remember marcoss arnold renderings *g* well i just have placed an older model of an job on it (click on it to coment it):

here's my first try. there was no way to get any closer to your glass, and the white model doesn't cast a decent shadow.
the scene has been rendered whit brazil public version 04.53 in 4 mins. ![]() [ June 21, 2003, 04:18 AM: Message edited by: rivoli ] |

Oh man, this turned out to be much more difficult than I thought it would but I've learned alot in the process. This is my image so far:
Can anyone tell me why the backdrop photo looks so washed out? Its the 800x600 version. Anyway, I did this with Mental Ray and Maya. The hardest part (by far) is getting the hdr image to line up with the virtual scene. I assume you are all using a large sphere to hold the .hdr image, is that correct? If so how do you line it up so the reflections match? I've been using trial and error. Anyway, nice challenge and I think I'll try to add something a little more interesting if I get the time. Maybe an animation?
