The Unchallenge A forum for "unchallenges" where users can post models or an idea so that the group can work together to solve the problem, develop new techniques and share thoughts about a particular topic. Kind of like a challenge but without a deadline.

Hi all,

Blochi and me have setup a new challenge.
Blochi created an hdr image of his home and place 3d objects (red) on his real table.

I think this is the first time a challenge looks on reflections based on hdrimages. ..but this is only one goal. We want you to take the scene and play around ..place all your 3d characters on the table and let them shake.

..don't forget to have fun at all.!

oops forgot to post the url...

'place all your 3d characters on the table' - 3d charactures? you mean the objects?

'let them shake' - what do you mean by this?

so the point of the challenge is what exactly? and we have to model everything all up from scratch?

Everything is there..just take it and render it... BUT-- if you want ,you can place everything else on the table...what about an architectural 1:100 scale model?

you know what i mean?

The point of the challenge:
You have a scene with an hdrimage and you can compair the way a software produce reflectionsfrom hdrimages and lighting.
Your reference is the real image, because colors should be similar...that's the challenge!

Hi all,

I wonder what the real 'challenge' is, but the idea is fun. Personally I doubt an HDRI-challenge as not to many people use it for now, so even less people would attend it. The best place to fit would be the unchallenge imho.

I'll wait upon further reactions, and move this topic if appropriate.

This is an anouncement and should stay in this forum.

It's clear that this "seems" to be an easy one, but in fact it's not that easy, if you never touched hdrimages and if you work with hdrs since one-two years like me, you still find suprising results.
It's a training for your eyes, because there are so many subtile variations in color that it's really hard to find the best material setting ..just try it.

if i get the time, which i hope i will, i'll put c4d 8.1 through it's hdri paces with this challenge.

i must say, simple as this challenge is, you've done a respectable job setting it all out. well done, certainly inspired me!

saved you the effort nisus old man, i moved it to unchallenge for you

(sorry seismograph, but this is definately unchallenge material)

So all entries should be from the same camera position to match your setup view? (co-ords provided on your site) The point being to best use the HDRI image for lighting whatever you place on the table?
