I have always admired the render output of mental ray. But as I was trying it out, it seems its pretty much difficult for me to render an acceptable output, especially as I am only testing and trying it out from another colleague's office workstation.

So, here's hoping that those who have 3DSMAX 6, would try out this old scene from a project i had a long time ago and post the results as well as the settings so everyone can benefit.

And yes, of course, other rendering engines are welcome to try this out too.

Cheers.

Umm...Jeff, can I email the source file and ask you to host them for download? Its just a mere 990KB when uncompressed and about 264KB zip compressed.

Hi Jucaro,

This sounds like a good idea. Especially since it's an old project and I have not yet managed to import an old file yet... GI/MR simply won't work with any imported file here (and I've doublechecked all scale and import settings)

So I'm curious to see what this will look like...

As I dont have a file server, I dont know where to post the MAX scene file yet.

And one other thing, would it be ok to post the max scene together with the interior 3d furnitures even if the 3d furnitures were from a 3rd party model house?

anyone interested in hosting my file?

Lets do it,

I feel like I'm living in a Mental Ray vacume (3 months & counting) and would like some comparative studies.
