OK, your image done the same way I did the WIPs of the bar. This image does nor fare as well, I think, because of the parallax--my 'lines' action is made to accentuate vertical lines. Also, your image has so much surface detail that it generates a lot of lines, I prefer to use a more massing image to make lines, then lay it over a more complex image. But you could do both--bolder lines for the massing, more delicate for the details.

I prefer your tests (except test04) to this try.

Ernest, but from what I understood from your explenation on the WIP, you used the filters on different type of renders (raytrace, solid...) am I correct?
Here you only had one type of an image to start with?
Is my question being understood at all...?
TNX.

Yes, that's right. I render out several different images for different purposes, but all from the same viewfile and all to the same resolution. That way they can all load into a Photoshop file as layers.

It is fairly common in the film industry to film many passes of a model and then combine the film, the same can be done with CG.

Tnx a lot Ernest. Even before you posted those images, I figured the motionblur wouldn't do a tremendous job on the non-vertical lines. And as you said, to many lines makes a big mess... A plain render without mapping would be a great overlay I guess.

Anyway tnx a lot for your time, and even more to get the forum alive!

Default Re: NPR (post-production): Try out your filters and blending modes

Here is another, really worked over!!!!!

Kind of a heavy handed sketch

Only one regret, should have doubled the image size before using any filters for a finer or more detialed effects. Not to bad for an hour of messing with it.
