Hey guys,

2004 and 2005 will both be in LA. This came directly from the SIGGRAPH organizers last week. The reason is exactly as Chris mentioned, too much money lost and low attendance rates.

There aren't. But if Jeff posted a big pile of shots of babes, his wife might get the wrong idea about what he was doing in San Diego.

I did notice Greg Hess stopped to photo a strip club, at least from the outside.

I usually don't take much people photos, as there are tons of sites which usually take nothing BUT people photos.

Maybe next year I'll take all people photos and no tech photos

I actually think you have a special talent for photographing still life of computing. Here is another one you might like: http://online.sfsu.edu/~hl/mmm.html

Since all of those photos that Greg took will be museum pieces too, for the next generation of computer artists!

My father had one of these...I can't remember WHY

silly old computer

My first exposure was earlier--a mainframe where doing graghics involved BASIC and ASCII codes printed in a pattern on the teletype, which was the only interface to the computer. What's a monitor?

Well that is exactly what i mean, how many sons/daughters of ours will be saying the same thing in years to come? I mean, it is a shame to go to Siggy and not to at least record something of the technological appearance of things for posterity. People will still basically look the same in 20/30 years, but looking at movies like Minority Report, i don't think computing interfaces and technology will look the same.

Great pics of the Salk Institute. Wish to visit that project sometime. How far from San Diego was it?
