Default Courtyard Street

Image was done to give elected officials a better idea of what we're proposing as one of the street standards in a zoning case. As such the focus was on the relationship between the street, cars, people, and homes - while showing the shape and dimension of the street proposal.
Drawn in AutoCAD 2000, modeled and rendered in Lightwave 7.5c using one area light and Montecarlo GI.

That is one nice picture. A complete success. Any comments I might have had you answered by your explanation of the purpose.

The treatment of the paving is what makes this picture work. The variations in it, and their subtle contrast, are perfect at conveying the scene. In other words, if the paving were too perfect, the whole scene would look artificial, and the feasability of the design would be in question. The long shadows allow the people to be players in the image, while still shown from a high angle.

Great work!

very nice bird view
but...
(to criticize just a bit)
...why are the shadows so blue? it's nice but makes whites lines look like neon lights to me eyes...
(was really to add some critic image is very nice indeed...)

nice imagen, and great trees, how did u make/(buy?) that trees ?
I like the Yellow from the Sun and Ble from the sky..it seems like a early morning.. or maybe close to the sunset.
only 2 critics.
1.- the right Sidewalk ramp, seems very brightness, (only one part of the ramp).. maybe u can add less specular to that material .
2.-Why? why u have a ramp for the people, and dont put a ramp for the cars to enter to the garage of the left house.. ?

very nice work
I like the sidewalk a lot. only one thing I want to crit is the car- it looks fat to me. and the trees look to identical- maybe some variations would be better

Thank all of you for the replies.

Funny, that accessible ramp looks bright and flat to me also - I'll work on my process to model my ramps. The driveways are not 'ramped' because the curbs are the laydown type that can be driven over (still 6" high but the transition from top of curb to flowline of curb is more gradual). This type of curb does not require builders to cut curbs for their driveways.

Cars are from Dosch Design. Nice package - just change colors and add fresnel reflections and you're good to go.

The trees are all identical - just rotated and scaled to give some variation. Need to make some more trees - just getting the time to do it.

Trees are made with Onyx Pro and because of the lisencing of that product, I cannot sell of give them away - sorry. Onyx is a great program and works well in creating optimized Lightwave files.

Ramps, tree variation, diffuse the whites a little more, color balance - Once again, thanks for the tips for not only improving this image but in improving my skills and my "eye" for details.
