As far as I know the max is 16000x16000 pixels.
I wouldn't dare go anywhere near that though. Just render as large as you have time to.

Yeh that's MAX what will "custom" edit alow but when you type in 16000*16000 you always can hit "resolution multiplier" and get it 200% or 400% and LW will show 32000 and 64000. I never tryed that but you can't manaualy enter more than 16k but probably because multipling it would exceed 64k. SO it looks like MAX is acctualy 64k but i can't say how much of GBs RAM you would need for such render .

BTW if something is printed on A0 i think you don't need 300dpis then. Bet IF I'm not mistaken A0 on 300dpi is 14K * 19.8K pixels so you can do it with 200% mulitpiler (alows 32K*32K) if you really need that high.

Question Re: max resolution

thanks man for the response, I do really appreciate your help . You see i have a 2gb of ram and a dual amd mp prcosessors biut still it say "not enough memory to frame buffer" or error "creating image" when i tried rendering an aerial of a community without the trees and other entourages.( still image only)at 8000x6000. Lighting was setup with distant light as key light and several pointlights as fill-ins Key light is shadow mapped and no radiosity. I wonder if its because of the poly counts or the resources really needs to be more. Sorry guys i'm just a newbie hope you could help. You're doing a great job to the lw community!!!

You can also try the plug-in Splitrender. Search for it on www.flay.com. It splits the original scene into several and renders only a part of the scene (to be comped together i Photoshop). I haven't tried it but it seems to be really good.

Yes splitrender is good one , i use "Divide Scene" (free LScript) lot of times and i rendered 5000*6000 at 1GB machine without any problems many times (once i was rendering object with 5,4 milion polygons on that machine at 5100*3500 with divide scene in 4 parts - no problem. With 2GB you must be able to render that resolution. Just setup enough Virtial Memory (i have fixed 3 GB streched on 3 partititons/ 2 HDDs) and go to camera segment memory properties and set it to something lower like 4-5 MB and you'll be able to render it for sure.
