I'm sure the animation is very good. However, in my opinion, stills taken from animations are not good enough by themselves as images.

Don't get me wrong, these are not dreadful by any means, but if you are wanting C&C on these as stills, they are not great.

Kicks,Thanks- exteriors were renderer in VRAY 8-10mins per frame. Interiors in Max6-radiosity.

Dibbers, thanks for your opinion.

Nice work. Of course, animation stills could never pass as regular images, but these are very nice.
Wendell, you said you used VRay for the exteriors (about 10 min/frame) and Max's radiosity for the interiors...Tell me, what led you to that choice? Render times? Quality? Familiarity?

I don't agree. While EVERY still is not going to be a great image on its own, I do not conceed that point.

The issues of tweeked lighting, texturing, etc. make it HARDER to get frames good-as-still-renderings, but not impossible. There is always the issue or resolution, of course, but when we see images posted here they are usually down to video resolution, anyway.

Rick,

I used Vray for the exterior for it's good GI, image quality, and speed ( I.ve tried using ELight with default scanline rendering & the renderings took 16min/frame, and the GI is bad with dirty looking shadows). For the interiors I used Max Radiosity for good image quality, and speed, and easy setup of scenes, it only took 20sec/frame to render in radiosity(excluding the 1 time radiosity processing of about 1-2hrs).
