whats the best way to create some nice glass in lightscape.
havent got a clue. i tried with a sphere but the reflection in the glass shows to much contrast given to the bitmap on the sphere, i tried mix transparancy and reflection without a sphere/cylinder and it looks like nothing. so it doesnt have to be a solution with a sphere/cylinder, only GOOOOD glass. what can i do? any help appreciated. alex[IMG] Last edited by ahuygen; October 21st, 2004 at 07:28 AM. |

i put this model under big dome and after i render it i get sky efect only on side windows but not on the front one. Is that ok or not, can u post one good picture just to see what i can do with lighscape? Is this becouuse of angle of camera, surfice orientation or something elese. Plz HEEEEEELP Necko |

It is hard to make recommendations without seeing the .lp file. For those of you who have not bee around during the days of Lightscape Inc. (before Discreet Logic/KTX/Discreet) it was customary for Lightscape folks to ask for the .lp files to see what is going on.
I guess the only situation here is how to either get them or where will they be posted. But overall if you WINRAR compres the file they will be small. But some pointeers to ask is, are your windows' glass have double geometry? meaning 'actual polygonal thickness' for glass or it is just a single polygon plane? This makes a diference in raytracing. Also does your glass have a color 'doping' component or is it mainly transparent without color? This effect the visibility and reflection of certain objects. What is your Refractive Index,Shininess and Transparency settings?

Yes, it is because of the angle to the glass. It is Fresnel refraction. In LS set the refraction number--LS preset glass works very well, and sets itself to an IR of 1.5 real glass falls between about 1.4 and 1.6 You can try setting yours at 1.6 or even 1.65 and re-raytrace. You may like the result better, even as it is somewhat less accurate. You can also reduce the transparency of the glass so you are seeing less of the darker interior. |
