@Delfoz: Right on man... thats exactly what i mean. This explains everything from rhythm , scale and all thats needed for architectural composition.

@fran: yes its a visualization... how bout architecture? just like the qualifying rounds, we can render the design of other architects (models made by others and etc.). how bout those vizzers ask some suggestions from architects they knew. Just a suggestion though.

hmm... From the shapes and those curved solids... it reminds me of the flying butresses of chatres(not sure with the spelling ) cathedral.

well thanx for the replies guys... but still u dont get my point, u know how this works better, if its real shapes like the "mecano" toy, but here... for example, if i will do a model for this challenge, i'll just start from scratch (without ur shapes) BUT BUT BUT with a minimal style using just cubic & simple shapes, this works very fine and i assure you that the result will be marvelous (the proof: something like this photo note to change the curves with strait shapes, and this photo too)
@IC u just said it... u can model anything with hundreds of little cubes but what software can calculate these faces (and i think u dont have to group small boxes close, just creat any cube shape with your desired proportions then simply claim its group of the given cube shape)
@Da rock, i think Architecture face more complicated REAL problems than we are pretending that this is one of them (never thought that getting a nice architecture from some shapes is a problem) problems like area of construction, weather, constructing codes, client needs, plumbing ideas, elect. problems, site problems, materials problems, circulation problems... REAL ARCHITECTURAL PROBLEMS!!

PS. i am an architect and a Fine Arts graduate too
and seams its me alone against the flood

Mohamed,
I think everyone else has just accepted the challenge rules that were laid out from day one.

You are of course entitled to your opinion but there is a danger of coming across as bitter when you criticise something you're not actually taking part in.

I think the entries will be interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing them.

i Think Mohammed points are valid, i agree (mostly) with him
This was represented as a "visualization" challenge NOT as a

DESIGN Challenge

some people will be at a definate disadvantage

yeah i like it That

The Exterior part comes 1st This would have been hugely UNFAIR
if The INTERIOR challenge had been before the Exterior challenge

I think it is part of the job of any kind of illustrator to be creative. You don't need any design ability to arrange those shapes into something interesting.

Children do it when playing with blocks.
We all do it by choosing camera angles, adding entourage and props to scenes etc.

It's a good opportunity to see who has the most flair and imagination among those who got through.

think of it as "STILL LIFE 101" and arrange those primitives and start painting them, adding color, shades and shadow. then add the table cloth and few details...then you have an artwork...same goes with the challenge.
