wow, amazing WIP shown here!

i'm starting with some delay, this is my first idea - building some funny skyscrapers. next steps will be some surrounding and the design of the fassades. dont know yet if i'll solve this with textures only or with adding more geometry. C&C welcome, steffen.

Hi Steffen, interesting combination of shapes you have there. But I guess you'll need to somehow make it relate to architecture more. You can start by asking yourself what makes a form, structure or space architectural.

I think you need to introduce something to indicate scale as soon as possible, whether that's through texturing or adding detail to the structures.

That will help ground those shapes in reality and help suggest ways forward.

thanks for your comments ! yes these strange shapes need quite some more work to make architecture out of them...

now i've tried to set up a "inverted" hugh ferriss lightning. looks quite dramatic still no fasades yet, i'll use them to introduce some color to the scene. also the background lacks of life yet...

hey...could be nice lighting...
but i missing a indication of scale in your image ... could be done by adding just the right detail on your volume... curious to see the end-result !!

I am a huge fan of Hugh Ferris so love your idea of lighting the scene this way. The other thing he does so well is to give a sense of the overwhelming scale of the city in relation to the huddled masses below. As Olivier mentions above, achieving this sense of scale should really bring the image on. Looking good.

here is the latest update which is somewhat "tiny" - i'm using maxwell for this first challenge which is still a little slow in combination with my notebook but maybe i can post some bigger preview tomorrow - now textures and cars are added which shows the scale of my 300m towers...

so take out your magnifying glasses for your c&c

hey ! nice ! ... but small

something is a bit strange with one of the bulding...the one with the sphere-like shape ... unless its structure is really huge, it's hard to imagine a wide space inside...

i guess you are using volumetric ... from the new version ?
also easy to be sure to have a final render with maxwell > time setup 1 day and 21 hours.

hehe yes that's the new version - 48 hours left, just started the job the buildings are not really realistic, they would be hell of expensive - i hope with the textures it get's obvious how they work. lets wait
