I went last year & I really enjoyed it. However I am one of those people who cannot network for the life of me. I ended up meeting dozens of people and giving out dozens of card and getting even more cards but nothing has come of it. I still have all of those cards in the pouch I put them at the events. However I found it a lot of fun. I took some max classes and met Jeff and just walked around the floor. I think if I was more outgoing and better at networking... well actually I wonder how many people make good connections there.

i went Two years ago, and had a LOT of Fun for 1x day

my Truck had just been stolen the week before and i used the Insurance settlement to cover The Cost of The Trip (hotel etc)

actually i had given notice That i was moving from my apartment complex
which i Think triggered The Truck being stolen and i did NOT have a place

to move into yet

so i went to SIGGRAPPH for just something To do

maybe This year again

hey i met Jeff and The Crew and The Ted Boardman

Randy

(it is hard to Think That Jeff is really only human for all The work he does)

This will be my fourth year and I think it's a must for anyone who works in graphics.

So what would one expect from a visit to SIGG?
That depends wholly on the person. Unless you are a real tech guy, I wouldn't do the courses. They are almost all geared towards programers and researchers. Same goes for the papers of course. The electronic theater is optional and since there is so much going on in the evenings (parties!), and you can see almost all the same material at the animation theater during the days (and you don't have to pay for a ticket) you may want to pass on it as well. That leaves the exhibit (a must), animation theater (a must), art exhibit (kinda cool), new technologies (a lot of fun), key note address (George Lucas!), Parties (Discreet, CGA, etc.), and not to be overlooked exhibiter tech-talks. For me it's 4 very busy days.

I hope you decide to go because us Arch types need a stronger presence. Thank goodness for the CGA party or we might never know each other existed at such an event.

I still think it's one day's worth of stuff, then one night for the party. So that's Tuesday.

I guess I'll spend the other few days in a carjam. (Is that Lauren Bacall? Hey, fellas, I just saw Lauren Bacall!)

I am no longer sitting on the fence (ouch!)

I will only be in LA for a few days, but I will be at SIGGY and especially my first CGA party. Yee-ha!

So does that mean you plan on doing the exhibit and some other stuff as well or just the party?
