While a number of submissions draw on existing imagery, this one draws on one of my favorites--Piranesi's Prisons. See attached image from 1750s.

While there is an effort to show scale, I find the effort falls a little short. Something in the foreground would REALLY help. Yes, there are stairs back there, but the front is hard to read scale, and as a results doesn't 'include' you in the picture as well as it could.

Overall the detail work is great, but maybe over-the-top. A little less would be fine, too. There is an odd duality to the detail--some is massive and weighty, while others are delicate. It confuses their purpose.

The lighting is great. But what, exactly, is the red about? It looks fine, but doesn't communicate very much about the scene. What does it mean, or hint at? Also, the light from inside the towers is a great touch, but the interior detail would be better left vague--leave some mystery.

I find the textures to be distracting from the solidity of the towers, you don't need it.

The composition is good, but I want to see more on the left. What's over there? Doing so would open up the movement from back to front, giving the space some 'frontyard'.

Muddy, no sense of subject matter or space.

Interesting concept - definitely influenced by Piranesi. Aren’t we all? Perhaps the red light signifies oppression? I wish the red light had more variation. Maybe as if were fire? I think a 2 pt. Perspective would’ve been more successful for this shot, and I keep wondering if there’s too much light outside. It’s a shame to lose that detail out there. The scaffolding is an interesting use of the shapes.

the scale is somehow messed. Overall light is not bad, just influence of very strong outside light should be more visible.
Brick texture is not right - too large and the grain on other surfaces is too large as well.

Learning from the masters is always a good place to start - in this case, Piranesi. In our studio, we get our inspiration from our illustration and photography and try to bring that to computer graphics, rather than the other way around. I'd love to see this one in very high resolution to see if it holds up. Because it is a real computer space, all the details would need to be considered rather than abstracted in the way Piranesi did.
