Dongle for 3.1

Is it possible to get a dongle for a copy of 3.1 which I already own? (E-bay) Or do they have to be part of the original purchased package?

Lightscape 3.0 and 3.1 were available with a dongle. There is reference to that option in the Installation and Authorization Guide. I just heard from someone this morning who has a copy of 3.1 with dongle. I think your suggestion re: Ebay is the ticket.

It was to get around the absurd 40 or 50 number long codes used for copy protection. Would any dongle work with any copy? I don't know. I probably still have mine around here somewhere, never used it. I stuck with the stupid codes. But the codes kept getting corrupted and I would be bounced back to the 15 day trial period. Too bad it's not renewable, if you were a legit owner who simply got tired of getting codes.

On a seperate matter to that last bit, I wonder if WinXP still has RegClean?

Yeah my LVS 3.0 and 3.11 used to be dongle-less but I got tired of the authorization so I ordered my license by switched to a dongled version. So to answer the original post, they did not have to be part of the original package but the only way your locense was transferred to the dongle is to go through Lightscape since they did this themselves and since they are now out of business (or LVS is no longer supported) then its hard to find an LVS copy with a dongle.
